POWER FACTOR CORRECTION
Kempston Controls now have stock of the PFC2 range of capacitor switches from United Automation.
The PFC2 range of Capacitor switches provide optimised switching and control of three phase capacitive loads for Power Factor Correction, suitable for a three phase supply using the two-leg control technique. Signal control is by a DC signal
They incorporate an automatic resetting temperature trip fitted to the heatsink. They also have an integral semiconductor power fuses.
The models in this series include the 30kVAR and 50kVAR, 80kVAR & 100kVAR with all apart from the 30kVAR models being fan cooled.
- Provide optimised switching & control of 3 phase capacative loads
- Designed to dramatically reduce the inrush current – normally found with contactor base systems
- Automatic resetting temperature trip
- Available in 39/50/80/100kVAR models
- Integral semiconductor power fuses
- 50/80/1000k VAR models are fan cooled
- 3-phase capacative loads for PFC
- Capcitor banks with or without chokes fitted
- Places where rapid change to Power Factor could be seen:
- Welding Plants
- Wind Power Plants
As part of the ongoing expansion to the product range on offer at Kempston Controls we are delighted to announce that we can now supply you with audible and luminous warning devices from SIRENA.
Founded in 1974 SIRENA have over 40 of industry expertise and today are one of the most important manufacturers of audible and luminous warning devices such as beacons and sounders in the automation industry.
The products are ideal for robotics, control panels, and safety applications. They are explosion proof and are available in many different shapes, sizes and colours to suit your safety needs.
At Kemspton Controls being able to expand our sounders and beacons offering is great as these products promote safety and awareness across many different sectoas in our industry.
The extensive range from SIRENA available at Kempston Controls offers quality assured products to suit multiple applications and bring a new and unique modular concept developed to take signalling devices to a whole new level.
SIRENA offer products featuring all-round LED technology allowing a better resistance to vibrations, a longer life product and lower consumption, delivering a virtually zero maintenance range and drastically reducing operating costs.
Common Uses of Sounders and Beacons
Hugely important for factory and warehouse safety sounders and beacons are used to alert workers to many different things that could be going on in the factory and help keep them safe.
This could simply be alerting a user that a there is a fault on a productions line to helping direct traffic around a factory or warehouse floor without incident.
Beacons are also used in other industries that you may not have considered such as aviation and marine. They are used to warn aircraft of any tall buildings they may encounter or to keep people safe on large ships.
They can also be used as a key security tool to warn of any security breach in a building or yard. A beacon and sounder going off can be a great deterrent on the outside of a building.

Kempston Controls are delighted to announce that we will now be supplying Citel Surge Protection products.
As part of Elobau’s ongoing product rationalisation and improvement programme, there are will be a number of relays you may have purchased over recent years that are about to be replaced/ceased.
We’ve all been there when the production line goes down and the critical spare you thought you had, you didn’t. A 2017 study found 3% of all working days were lost annually to downtime, and this costs manufacturers in the UK alone over £180 billion a year.
Rechner Sensors produced their first certified sensor for an explosion application back in 1974 which makes them one the oldest and most experienced producers of these application critical sensors. In addition they are also the world leader in the design and manufacturer of capacitive sensors.
