Switching the Source
There are masses of benefits to installing a means of switching a mains power source to a back-up system to help protect against power outages and extend uptime in the event of an extended power failure.
The Standard for Reliable Power
Having a reliable source of standby power alleviates the issue of electrical problems occurring and disrupting an electrical network. A voltage drop and outage could lead to a life-threatening scenario such as the failure of life-saving Hospital equipment. An Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) in unison with an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) helps protects those devices keeping them functional when the primary power has failed.
Data Centres are another industry that relies heavily on a constant power supply uptime along with many other industries and businesses that operate 24 hours a day where power failure could prove costly.
Typical Data centre UPS installation
The BS 7671:2018 and BSI 62485 regulations, in addition to essential safety aspects, cover the correct installation of UPS and ATS equipment ensuring the devices you utilise are up to the task at hand and are installed safely and are dependable.
