Kempston Controls joins the Building Controls and Industry Association!

Kempston Controls has been busy! While we have been engaged with expanding our portfolio of automation, process and building control components, we signed up with the Building Controls and Industry Association (BCIA) at the beginning of this year (2024)!

Who are the Building Controls and Industry Association?

Who and what are the Building Controls and Industry Association? For those who don’t know, here is a snapshot of just some of the capabilities and functions that this capable association can offer to its growing list of members.

Formed in 2004, the BCIA is part of the Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA) with access to lobbying at a European level, and the ability to discuss key issues with other aspects of the construction sector.

It’s the BCIA’s desire to promote the use of building controls as a key factor in the operational efficiency of buildings. With members spanning the full range of companies operating in the building controls and BEMS sector and, on behalf of its members, the BCIA has built strong relationships with the trade press, other associations, and the Government.

Access to unique market intelligence

BCIA membership provides access to Market Information Service (MIS) reports, containing unique data on the UK controls industry which is not available elsewhere. This report provides a robust source of market intelligence enabling members to keep informed, prepared, and in a position to grow the building controls market.

Providing a single voice, the BCIA represents the growing building controls and Building Energy Management System (BEMS) sector in the UK. Offering several key functions that support its members and the wider industry including:

  • Specialist training courses for the controls industry
  • Lobbying and liaison with Government
  • Enable member companies to discuss shared interests
  • Provide unique market trends and sales data
  • Develop a career pathway for BEMS Control Engineers
  • Promote the benefits of becoming a BEMS Controls Engineer as a career pathway

Building Controls and Energy Efficiency

The BCIA aims to promote a better understanding, application, and use of building controls. Along with influencing legislation ensuring the crucial role that building controls play in energy efficient buildings is recognised at all levels; and increase market awareness among specifiers and end-users about the importance of good specification, design, and installation. To achieve this the association works with institutions such as the BESA, ECA, CIBSE, BIFM, FETA and others.

With all the valuable information and support provided by membership, Kempston Controls also finds itself in great company, sharing a platform with the likes of Siemens Smart Infrastructure, Johnson Controls and Sauter Automation to name just a few.

Damian Wynne, Managing Director of Kempston Controls had this to say about our latest accolade:

‘We are delighted to join the BCIA, a recognised and respected association within the industry. Membership strengthens our reputation for best in class service.’
